Paystation by Trademe allows customers to pay with their credit card using their secure online gateway. Paystation is developed and maintained in New Zealand. Paystation charges a monthly fee for a fixed amount of transactions. Unlike many other payment gateways, they do not charge a percentage commission of your sales.

Setting up a Paystation account

1. Navigate to paystation.co.nz/application-form
2. Fill in the details, and add in the Promo code we have provided you, to receive a monthly discount.
3. Select an appropriate plan. See the below table for current rates and number of transactions.
4. Submit the form. Paystation will contact you and provide information to provide to your bank.

Receiving your money

Paystation will transfer the money directly into your bank account. Most banks settle transactions daily, so you should see your money in your account within the next business day.

For each product provide the following:

• Title
• Description
• Price
• Images
• Categories

Other information

• Shipping options and prices.
  • Shipping rates for different areas.
  • Do you wish to offer free shipping for orders over a certain value?
  • What countries do you wish to ship products to?
• Do you want to allow your customers to pick up the products from your store/factory?
• Payment options, will you accept bank transfers? Stripe is a great and very easy way to accept credit cards on your shop, all you need to do is set up an account, and verify your email address. Information on other payment gateways can be found here.
• Do you want to display your prices in the shop with GST included, or do you want this added at checkout?

POLi is the online payment option that allows your customers on your website to use Internet Banking to instantly securely pay. This payment gateway does not accept credit cards.

Unlike traditional bank transfers, you will know immediately when the customer has made a payment, allowing you to process the order as soon as it arrives.

Setting up a POLi account

1. Navigate to polipay.co.nz/for-merchants/apply.html
2. Fill out the application form, providing your business type, bank account details with proof, company logo, and contact details.
3. POLi will process your application and contact you with further details.
4. Once your application has completed, send us two pieces of information: Merchant Code & Authentication Code
5. Request the latest version of the software by going here (or ask us to do this part)

Cost of using the POLi payment gateway

This payment gateway has no set up costs, and no recurring service fees. There is a transaction fee, which at the time of writing is 1% of the payment value, capped at $3 per transaction.

This payment gateway has a $10 per month minimum account activity fee. Your monthly invoice will be the sum of your POLi transaction fees for the month, or $10, whichever is greater.

Save time with an automated sync between your online shop and your Xero account. This eCommerce add-on allows your website to automatically create invoices in Xero for all sales that are processed through your online shop.

This add-on can also manage your inventory in Xero, automatically reducing your Xero inventory when an order is processed.

We will arrange a time to remotely log into your computer to set up the required settings in your Xero account. We can provide instructions on this, but it does require a high computer skill level.

Optionally, the website can send your shop’s product SKU to Xero as an Item Code field. This will allow you to reduce inventory numbers defined in Xero when each item is sold. You must have a corresponding Inventory Item Setup in Xero for this to work properly. Please note that this is not an “Inventory Sync” as this will only reduce the existing quantity of inventory items in Xero when a corresponding item is sold. It will not synchronize your Xero and your shop inventories if the inventory quantity is adjusted in either system. For more information about Xero inventory and Item Code fields, click here.

Once this integration is set up, your sales will be sent to Xero as soon as you mark the order as complete. For information on order statuses, click here.

How do I get this?

1. Contact us!
2. We will install the required software and configure your website.
3. We will then arrange a time to remotely log in to your computer and set up your Xero account.
4. Optional – if you wish to track inventory in Xero, each of your products will need a SKU which matches the Item Code field in Xero. These values will need to be entered into Xero and your website.

Stripe is our preferred payment gateway. Stripe allows customers to securely pay with their credit card without leaving your website. Stripe is fast, simple, and secure. Once you set up your account, you can provide us access to do the more technical steps, just let us know.

Cost of using the Stripe payment gateway

This payment gateway has no set up costs, and no recurring fees. There is a transaction fee, which at the time of writing is 2.9% + $0.30 NZD per transaction. Click here for the current rates.

Stripe also requires that your website is secured with SSL. For more information on SSL, see this article.

Note that if you issue a refund through Stripe for any reason (such as a customer requesting a refund) you will not be refunded Stripe’s fees.

Retrieving money from your Stripe account

Stripe will automatically deposit money paid into your Stripe account directly into your nominated bank account seven days after the payment was made. Easy!

Chargeback protection

Stripe provides an optional service called Chargeback Protection. This service defends your business from the unpredictability of disputes. If your business faces a fraudulent dispute, Stripe will cover the disputed amount and waive any dispute fees—no evidence submission required.

The price for this is 0.4% per transaction. This service is recommended so that in the unlikely event a fraudulent purchase was made (e.g. if someone used a stolen credit card) on your website, you will be reimbursed for the disputed amount.

Ensure you read Stripe’s terms and conditions to ensure this service provides you with the protection and service you need.

Setting up a Stripe account

1. Navigate to dashboard.stripe.com/register
2. Enter your email address, select a password, and click Create your Stripe account.
3. Stripe will send a confirmation email. Check your inbox and click on the verification link when this arrives. You will be asked to log in again.
4. In the sidebar, you will see an Activate your account link. Click on this or go here if you are logged in.
5. Enter the required information about your business.
6. Enter the bank account number you wish the money to be deposited into.
7. Click Activate account. If everything is entered correctly you should see a message telling you your account is now ready live.
8. Verify your identity by going here and uploading an image of your passport or driver licence. Stripe will not transfer money into your account until your identity has been verified.
9. Click on the API link in the sidebar.
10. In the sidebar, ensure View Test Data is turned off. You can check if this is turned on or off by clicking the View Test Data link. When it is turned off, it will not be highlighted and you shouldn’t see any sign of Test Data on the page.
11. Provide us with the data in the Publishable key & Secret key rows and we can take it from there. The keys will start with either pk_live_ or sk_live_. If these have the word ‘test’ in any of these, follow the above step until they do not include the word ‘test’.
12. Navigate to the webhooks section, and create an endpoint by pasting in the following url (replacing yourwebsite.co.nz with the URL of your website) https://yourwebsite.co.nz/?wc-api=wc_stripe
13. Once the Webhook has been created, click on ‘Click to reveal’ under the Singing secret section and copy the Signing secret.
14. Send us these three things: Publishable key, Secret Key, and Webhook Signing secret.

The New Zealand Post Group offers services to help New Zealand run, connecting people, businesses and communities. This plugin lets you offer New Zealand Post rates to your customers which are pulled directly from their API.

What we need from you:

• The post code of your location you will be sending from.
• API Key – NZ Post will provide you with an API key after you signup for their API services. Register for your API key here.
• The dimensions (length,width,height) in mm and weight in kg of every product including the variations (if applicable)
• If you wish to send multiple items in one box, the inner and outer dimensions of each box in mm, the box weight in grams, and the maximum weight the box can hold. Items not fitting in boxes will be sent individually. For sizes of NZ post boxes, see here.

This section explains setting up a Payment Express account for your online shop. This payment gateway allows customers on your website to pay via credit card, with the money directly being deposited into your bank account.

To integrate Payment Express payment, an account will need to be made with payment express by you. This make take some time to be approved by them. Please click here to go to the application form.

Once an account is made we will need the following details to integrate their payment gateway into your website, specifically;

• PxPay Access URL
• PxPay User Id
• Access Key
• Content for a ‘Terms and Conditions’ page, these terms and conditions must include: returns policy, delivery policy, and cancellation policy. We can provide a standard template of this for no additional cost.
• Content for a ‘Privacy Policy’ page. We can provide a standard template of this for no additional cost.

Cost of payment express payment gateway

There are two one off costs associated with setting up a payment express payment gateway, the first is payable to Payment express – this amount varies from $150, depending on the amount of transactions your website will make per month. The second is a $150 fee payable to us.

This payment gateway allows customers on your website to pay via credit card, or from their Paypal account.

Setting up a PayPal account

1. Navigate to paypal.com
2. Up the top navigation area, click the Business button.
3. Click Get started now or a button along the lines of Sign up now
4. Select the appropriate country and language, and select Get started under the Business section.
5. Input your information and follow their prompts.
6. Ensure you verify your email address – Paypal will send you an email with a link to click on, click on this to verify your email address.

Retrieving money from your paypal account

1. Navigate to paypal.com.
2. Log into your account.
3. On the top navigation, click the Withdraw button.
4. Click on Withdraw funds to your bank account
   
5. The first time doing this, you will be prompted to enter in a bank account to save. Enter your bank account details and click Continue.
6. Select the amount of money to withdraw into your bank account and click Continue.
